2017 Steam & Ale Trail Update

Event dates: Saturday 10th June and Sunday 11th June

This event is the brother of our hugely popular Beer and Music Festival which takes place every October. For this event, however, we do things a little differently – the Steam and Ale Trail is a 5-mile long ale trail where you can hop off at each station to enjoy a pint of fine Yorkshire ale from a selection of local breweries. So you don’t get thirsty between stations, or if you just fancy a relaxing train ride, our on-train bars will also be in operation serving a rotating selection of both local beers and beers from other parts of the country.

Details have now been published of the format of the event with train timetables, alcoholic drink lists, station activities and entertainment all now available on the Steam & Ale Trail event page of the website.

Saturday Mainline Diesel Service 28th May 2016

This weekend sees the second of the Railway’s steam and diesel Saturdays. A special timetable operates in conjunction with the Steam & Ale Trail with the all line railcar turns taken over by locomotive hauled passenger stock.

However the Class 101 diesel multiple unit will also be out and about, operating a Keighley – Damems shuttle in between the all line services. This service departs on the arrival of the train from Oxenhope. Keighley will be a hive of activity with steam, mainline diesel and railcar services arriving and departing all day.

From the first service in the morning at 09.00 to the last diesel service of the day, motive power will be provided by English Electric Class 37 37 075.

Steam & Ale Trail

The KWVR is not only a great way to travel but also a great place to sample real ale and 2016 sees the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway launch our new Steam and Ale Trail over the Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday 28th May until Monday 30th.

The new event is the result of the hugely popular Beer and Music Festival which takes place in October.  The Steam and Ale trail is a 5 mile long ale trail where you hop off at each station to enjoy a pint of fine Yorkshire ale from a selection of local breweries. With over 40 beers to choose from you can visit each station where each different brewery will be bringing their brewery bars where you can choose from their range of beers.
