The motive power for the weekend 14th & 15th March will be as follows:
- Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March
Steam service – British Railways Standard Class 2MT 2-6-0 78022 (seen below just after crossing Bridge 11 on 16th February)
Diesel service – British Railways Waggon & Maschinenbau Diesel Railbus No. M79964
Timetable – Green Timetable both days
Whilst every effort will be made to ensure that the advised motive power is available, the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway reserve the right to change this when operational circumstances so dictate.
This weekend is the last weekend in which we will be operating a full line railway passenger service before the Civil Engineers descend on Bridge 11, south of Ingrow Tunnel and replace the 115 year old structure with the new one, the eight components of which are on site ready for work to commence. In order to facilitate the preparations, this weekend will see the Green timetable in operation on both days with access to the lineside restricted north of Damems Station.
Therefore, Sunday will see the last passenger services using the ‘old’ Bridge 11; the 16.30 from Oxenhope being the last passenger service northbound and the 17.15 service from Keighley the very last passenger train to cross the 115 year old structure before it is removed next week. The Engineers then have possession of the line between Ingrow and Damems for 3 weeks before whole line services return (weather permitting) on Saturday 4th April.
£15,000 has been raised by the Railway’s appeal to raise the £150,000 needed to replace the bridge and has been matched by a similar figure by the KWVR Trust. But that still leaves £120,000; the appeal is still open and your contributions are very much welcomed. For more information on the bridge and how you can contribute to the appeal, click HERE.
